Africa Seminary of The Christian Community - Movement for Religious Renewal
Have you looked for spiritual meaning in your life – a place where you might explore the deeper meaning of things? Are there questions you carry for which you have not yet found an answer?
There is a place where people can come and work on the spiritual aspect of their own life path. There is a place where people can come and explore the question of whether priesthood might be a life-path for them. The Africa Seminary of The Christian Community – movement for Religious Renewal may be that place for you.
The Africa Seminary is connected to The Christian Community – a worldwide movement for religious renewal that seeks to open the path to the living, healing presence of Christ in the age of the free individual. It is intended for people with a questioning mind who wish to better understand their possible true purpose in the world.
“All the flowers of tomorrow are in the seeds of today” (Ancient Proverb). A seminary derives its name from the Latin ‘seminal’ which implies a beginning, a quiet unfolding in the womb of the earth. A seed grows in the space and time afforded it. There are no quick fixes, instant solutions or accelerated learning paths in the Africa Seminary. Having started small and on an ad-hoc meeting basis, the Africa Seminary is now established as a part-time modular programme for self-development and an ever deepening understanding of a modern Christian Path in the twenty-first century. Looking further into the future, the Africa Seminary intends to become a fully-fledged seminary of The Christian Community, training priests and preparing them for the Sacrament of Ordination.
Where is the Africa Seminary?
On one hand it is where two or three (or more) gather to reflect and consider their own ever deepening spiritual journey and path of self- development. On the other hand it is a place. In 2024 the home of the Africa Seminary moved from Johannesburg, South Africa to Cape Town, South Africa.
One will become aware when looking at the history of the Africa Seminary that at first the modules were held in different location, largely to suit the participants. The Africa Seminary then found a home with the Johannesburg congregation of The Christian Community. It has now moved to be located in the Cape Town congregation of The Christian Community in Plumstead, Cape Town.
Modules on offer
“Discovering the treasures hidden in the Lord's Prayer" Module 1: 22nd till 24th May 2026
This year, we will focus our attention in The Africa Seminary on the Lords Prayer in both the Autumn and Spring Modules and will look to uncover some of the mysteries of this foundational prayer for all Humanity, with the theme:
“Discovering the treasures hidden in the Lord's Prayer"
In the first Module, held on the 22nd till 24th May 2026, we will place particular emphasis on the opening Address of the Prayer and the significance of Name, Kingdom and Will.
Module 2 will be held on the 16th till 18th October 2026.
Whilst the two modules will be a continuation of our work, each Module will stand on its own and have completeness to it.
You are warmly invited to join us and share the dates and information with anyone you think may be interested. Please indicate your interest by contacting me at [email protected] for registration or any questions.
